Short Description:

Looking for a way to reimagine your analysis on qualitatively coded data? Want to incorporate visualization into your analysis, but not sure how to get started? Join our two-day workshop that will focus on understanding and developing visualizations to support analysis of audiovisual data related to learning. In this interactive workshop, we will discuss general principles for visualization of coded audiovisual data and highlight examples of powerful and effective visualizations. In small teams, participants will collaborate to creatively design and apply visualizations on a chosen dataset. Participants will have the option to bring their already coded data to workshop in their team, if they so choose. Participants will also collaborate across teams to share insights and comments throughout the process of visualization development.

You can find the full workshop description here.

Audience:

This workshop is intended for learning scientists who work with classroom video and audio data that would benefit from employing visualization techniques in the analysis stage. Ideally, attendees will include researchers with experience and interest in conducting qualitative, quantitative, and computational analysis, as visualizations often cut across these various analysis techniques. Attendees with previous experience in R and ggplot2 will be able to gain additional insights and experience through this workshop, but researchers at any level of familiarity with advanced graphical programming (including none) will be able to benefit. Participants should either have a project involving the collection and analysis of audiovisual data in mind or a dataset they can bring with them to the workshop to benefit most from the workshop.
